I hope you gave them hell. The collective US airline system is nothing more than fleet of Greyhound buses with wings. You pay for your ticket and you should be happy for a seat. You want peanuts? That'll be $5. You want water? That'll be $8 for a 240ml can.
I'm from the US but am glad I escaped that gulag for to live in the peaceful surroundings of New Zealand. Air NZ, Qantas, and Pacific Blue are on time 99% of the time. And if they are late, there's always a good reason for it.
You might also lobby against extortionate prices charged to surfers for ovesized baggage. Whether or not I pay the extra $300(each way), the boards still fit on the plane. Another grift for ripping off consumers. But that's a separate story....
